Q: When did you first hear about CrossFit and how did you get started?

My wife kept encouraging(bullying) me to try it out, finally I gave in and after my first couple of classes I was hooked.

Q: Why did you stick with it?

It was the first training regimen I’ve tried that I have never once felt like I was getting bored with. There is always something new, a skill to work on or improve, and a constant competition with yourself to get better.

Q: What do you enjoy most about Bell City CrossFit?

The people, coaches, and subjecting everyone to my shenanigans.

Q: Most and least favorite lift?

Two-part answer.  High volume squats and deadlifts are my jam, but I really enjoy the things I’ve been working on so anything I’m trying to improve on is something I look forward to in a given WOD.  Least favorite is and will always be burpees, they serve no purpose on this planet and I hate them with a brutal passion.

Q. What do you train for?

Before I started CrossFit I would’ve said general health and wellness, but now I feel like it’s a hobby and something I genuinely enjoy/need to be doing, so it’s for the enjoyment between the consistently changing challenges, the relationships I’ve built, the constant drive to keep getting better.

Q: What is your greatest CrossFit success story?

Recently the things that come to mind are qualifying for quarter finals and getting bar muscle ups(still a work in progress).

Q: What do you do for work?

I work for Eversource Energy within the gas business.  I’m the Director of Gas Construction, and have responsibility for all gas pipeline construction in CT & Western MA.

Q: What do you do for fun with you’re not at the gym?

I’ve been golfing a lot this summer!!!!  I also like to mountain bike, and I’m a movie buff so whenever I can find time to spend with Jill watching movies.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in CrossFit, but not sure it’s the right fit for them?

It can be a fit for anyone and everyone, there are no restrictions on who can and can’t gain benefit from it.  If you enjoy competing with yourself or others, constantly improving and developing new skills, while participating in a fun environment to stay fit, then CrossFit is definitely something you should consider.

Q: Favorite breakfast meal?

Yes, all of them.  Pin me in a corner, I would go with a western omelet w/side of bacon.
